PAST MONTHLY POSTS

Brand: Revlon
Product: Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain
Shade/Color: Charm
Price: $6.79 at Target
Stars: 1/5

Pros:

  • Minty Smell
  • Glossy Finish

Cons:

  • Not true to color
  • changes color
  • accentuates dry spots

I've been meaning to buy a nude lipstick for a long time now and saw this product. I thought it was so cool because its in a crayon or pencil shape! I bought it in the color 'Charm' and was so excited to try it out! I am so unbelievably disappointed with this product. I put it on after I had on chap stick and it actually dried out my lips! I've never had a product do that before! For being so pricey compared to all the other lip sticks sold by Revlon, I was expecting much higher quality! But it doesn't stop there! Oh no! It CHANGED COLOR! It became a dark very unflattering orange-y color. I thought maybe it had to do with the cold that it changed color so I tried it again after getting home, and it did the same exact thing! I would not recommend this to anyone. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

August 2013 Favorites

September 9th, 2013
I'm going to start out this blog saying that I'm getting VERY busy and my blogs won't be as consistent... I had some free time so that's why this one is going up now :)

UPCOMING POSTS:
REVIEW: Gel Nails

                                                             HAIR & BEAUTY
Physicians Formula's Organic Wear Mascara
This has been a long time favorite for me! I know that Physicians Formula's products are organic and don't have the harsh chemicals other makeups do. I am NOT a tree hugger or a "Save the world" kind of person, but I want to know what I'm putting on my skin and don't want it to be any chemicals that might not be the greatest in the long run... This actually helps get thicker and longer! It really works! The first time I tried it out, I HATED it! But after using it about 3 times, I fell in love! It is by far the best mascara I've ever used and I will never use anything else!

**This is pricier for a drug store mascara ($10.99 at Ulta) but its worth it!**

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-In-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner and Serum
I love this! It goes on like a liquid eyeliner and looks like a pencil eyeliner! And the best part? IT DRIES ALMOST INSTANTLY!!  I would highly recommend this!

**Again, it's pricier for a drugstore eyeliner ($10.99 at Ulta) but it's worth it and it lasted me 7 months!!**

Rimmel London Stay Matte powder
One word: Amazing! I bought this because my foundation (Click HERE for my First impression and HERE for my check in) gets very oil-y looking in the heat or after a long day. So I decided I should probably get this as I've heard really positive reviews and so far.. I love it!!

Baby Lips
I feel like everyone loves these! I go through them so quick though! I can go through one of these in about 1 or 2 weeks... I actually had to go buy 2 back ups at Target the other day.

Paul Mitchell Awapuhl Wild Ginger Styling Treatment Oil
Before this, I used Moroccan Oil, but since I have blonde hair, it can slightly darken the color and build up so I was told to switch to this. I love it!! It makes my hair SOOOO soft and it smells so good! I can notice a difference in the softness of my hair whether or not I use this! It's not as pricey as Moroccan Oil (Moroccan Oil is around $45 and the Paul Mitchell one is around $24 at the local salon I go to)

MISCELLANEOUS
Bath & Body Works lotions and body sprays in "Secret Wonderland", "Country Chic" and "Plum Lily Swirl"
These have been a favorite for me all summer. They all smell so light and floral-y which reminds me of summer :)

Bath & Body Works candles in "Pumpkin Cupcake" and "Black Pepper Bergamot"
I actually just got these at a sale last weekend but ya know... I wanted to include them. "Pumpkin Cupcake" just smells so much like fall and I just love it! And "Black Pepper Bergamot" Smells like Axe which reminds me of my old school's hallways at passing time.. But I think it smells good. But, it's not for everyone.

Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte
It's back and I'm still in love with it! If you haven't tried it, YOU NEED TO!! It tastes like pumpkin pie! It's so good! I can't use enough words to describe it! I actually got it 2 days in a row over the weekend because I love it so much!

BACK TO SCHOOL: Be you :)

August 28th, 2013

So, the other day at school I heard some girls talking about how nervous they were about making new friends. Then I heard one girl say to the other girl

McKayla: "Ashley, you can't be like you were last year! You can't be THERE like you were last year."
Ashley: "I can't help it! That's just how I am!"
McKayla: "Well don't be how you are then!"

I couldn't believe I was hearing this!! McKayla was actually telling Ashley to be FAKE and to not be herself. WHO DOES THAT?! Then, if someone becomes friends with you and you start acting like yourself, they might not like you. They became friends with the fake you. Not the real you. I just thought this was a very dumb thing to say and I thought I'd share it with you :) Remember.. If someone wants you to be a certain way, they aren't worth you. As I like to say "If they can't handle you at your Amanda Bynes, they don't deserve you at your Beyonce" :) BE YOU!

xoxo

Check In: L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid to Powder Foundation

August 18th, 2013
UPCOMING POSTS

  • AUGUST FAVORITES (Sorry my July Favorites never got up..)
  • BACK TO SCHOOL: ADVICE, TIPS, ETC.)
  • FIRST IMPRESSION: FOUNDATION

I decided since I've been behind on my posting, I'd post twice today! :)

I am no longer using this foundation as I got fed up and couldn't stand it anymore. Basically, 2 layers looks cake-y and 1 layer gives you 0 coverage. I had been putting on 2 layers until one day I looked in the mirror and it looked like I stuck my face in some tan-ish orange-y mud. Then I cut down and put on 1 layer. Nope. It does NOTHING. No coverage no color nothing. So basically, its useless unless you like the whole oompa loompa look. If that's what you go for, then buy this for sure! But since I don't like to look like I'm wearing an orange mask, I decided to stop using this. I am highly disappointed considering how much I spent on this ($11+ dollars for a low quality drug store foundation is too much for me) I have gone back to my Ulta powder foundation (Which is now too light for me.. Thanks Sun...) I'm looking at another foundation and I'll for sure do a First Impression when I get that! So overall, the point of this post it to tell you

                                   IT'S NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!

COMPARE: Garnier Fructis VS. TRESemme- Heat Protecting Sprays

August 19th, 2013

UPCOMING POSTS

  • CHECK IN: L'OREAL MAGIC NUDE LIQUID TO POWDER FOUNDATION
  • AUGUST FAVORITES (Sorry July Favorites never got up..)
  • BACK TO SCHOOL: ADVICE, TIPS ETC.

 I'm back!!
Sorry about my sudden disappearance. I have been gone because I was out of town and didn't have good internet and didn't even open my computer because I was so busy.. But, I'm back and that's what matters! I'll be trying to do some back to school posts.. Maybe.

In this post, I will be comparing (And contrasting) The Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector and the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray. I'll tell you a little bit about myself (Why I need/use it) Then tell you (In my opinion) Best uses then rate it.

ABOUT ME:

  • I straighten my hair (usually) everyday in layers
  • I also curl my hair occasionally..In layers of course
  • I have thick hair
  • I have color treated hair

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector
                 PROS:

  • Smells very good!
  • Sprays evenly
  • Affordable
               CONS:

  • NONE
This product is amazing! It smells so good! Very fruity :) And it works! My hair is noticeably less damaged after using this! I went in to get my hair done awhile ago (After using about 1 bottle of this) And my stylist even commented on how much less damaged my hair was! So obviously it does what it says.. Protects your hair from damage caused by heat (Straighteners, Curling Irons/Wands etc.)

RATING: 5/5

TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray
               PROS:

  • Gives hair a natural shine
  • Affordable
  • Sprays evenly
  • Can be put into wet or dry hair
  • Comes with (2 FL. OZ) more product

            CONS:
  • Smell
As I said in my post on this product, it smells (to me) like baby powder and I personally don't like that smell. Otherwise its an amazing product! I would recommend it!

RATING: 4.5/5

I hope this post helped someone out there! :)

First Impression: TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray

August 1st, 2013
       COMING SOON:
  • August Favorites
  • Compare: Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist VS. TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray
  • First Impression: Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
PRICE: $4-$5 for 8 FL. OZ.
RATING: 4.5/5
PROS: Gives hair a natural looking shine, affordable, sprays evenly, works in wet or dry hair
CONS: Smell

Since there is only one Con, I'll start out with that. Some of you might like the smell of baby powder, but to me, it gets kind of annoying. If you like the smell of baby powder, then this is the product for you. Anyways... I know a lot of my friends who straighten the life out of their hair have, use and love this product. I never felt a need to buy it, until I saw they came out with a Keratin Oil infused line. I thought on the commercial they said it helps tame frizz (I have issues with frizzy hair.. not major but I don't like it) So I decided to try it out. Luckily, it was only 4 or 5 dollars and you get 8 WHOLE OUNCES of product!! This may not sound like a lot to you, but my current heat protecting spray I only got 6 ounces. Anyways, after reading the bottle, I didn't see anything about anti frizz :( Luckily my shampoo and conditioner has Argan Oil in it which de-frizzes. So, it said to spray into damp hair which was perfect because I was taking a shower that night. After putting it in my hair, as it began to dry, I could already feel a difference.. MY HAIR WAS SO SOFT!! Then this morning, I straightened my hair using the spray and it worked perfectly!! Over all, this is a wonderful product that (So far) I have loved!! I would recommend this! I did take off half a star just because I personally don't care for the scent.

xoxo,

Nail Polishes I would NOT re-purchase

July 24th, 2013
So, I'm trying to think up some new, interesting, helpful blogs and came up with this idea. Basically, all my blogs are based off YouTube videos, but instead, I turn them into blogs. So I've seen the products I wouldn't repurchase, but I don't have too many. Then I got thinking, I have a LOT of nail polish. What if I do a nail polishes I wouldn't repurchase? I DO have pictures for each. I'll give an exact price or price range for the polishes. I buy most of mine from Target or Ulta, so prices are for those stores at the time I bought them. If I can't remember an exact price, I'll try to put in a price range! :) I'll try to go in order by brand, and price (Lowest to highest)!

Brand: Sinful Colors
Price: $1.99
Color: Snow Me White
Pros: Covers well with 1 coat, glossy finish

Cons: Dries up quickly, not good quality etc.
So, I guess this is where the saying 'You get what you pay for' comes into mind. I shouldn't have expected much from a $2 polish. I might have just gotten a bad bottle, but I've only had this one for about a month (Maybe less) and it's thick and slimy. I have nail polishes that are 5 years old that aren't in as bad condition as this one. Not impressed at ALL

Brand: Sinful Colors
Price: $1.99
Color: 24/7
Pros: True to color

Cons: Dries up quick, not good quality, neon-ness goes away after awhile, dries matte
Once again, a Sinful Colors nail polish. I guess this brand and I just don't get along. My opinion on this one is the same as above...

Brand: Sinful Colors
Price: $1.99
Color: Rise And Shine
Pros: -

Cons:Matte finish, Not good quality
Pretty much the standard review. Luckily, this one hasn't dried up after 1 month. It's just ugh. No, don't waste your money.

Brand: N.Y.C
Price: East Village
Color: $1-2
Pros: Dries quick

Cons: SHEER, Color on nails is not the same as in the bottle, low quality
I saw an OPI polish at Sephora that was kind of a peacock color, but didn't want to spend $8 that day, so I went to Target to find a cheaper look-alike. Wow, biggest... Mistake... Ever! I was psyched to find this color that was almost identical! I got home and put it on my nails to be disappointed more than I've ever been with a nail polish. It is so sheer it looks like a glittery blue-ish water that I put on my nails. You can't even layer it over another polish because it doesn't show up. It DOES dry 'In a New York Minute' as it states on the bottle. Highly disappointed with this polish. Don't waste your money.

Brand: Ulta
Price: $6-8
Color: Blue's Cruise
Pros: -

Cons: Sheer, color is different than in the bottle, expensive for such low quality
I got 4 ulta nail polishes on the same day, this was one of them. All the others are wonderful and perfect. For whatever reason, this one is a jelly (sheer) polish and doesn't show up good and is a PAIN to get off. Definitely NOT worth the money.

Brand: Claire's
Price: ??
Color: Flashy
Pros: Neon

Cons: Matte finish, ships easily (Within the day), low quality
So, I already think Claire's is overrated and is WAY to expensive for everything being so low quality (My personal experience/opinion) but this was a birthday present a couple years back (We are no longer friends which is why I felt is was okay to include this) The color is so pretty and I was really excited to try it out, but when I did, it dried matte (Strike 1), then it chipped that SAME day (strike 2) and dried up within the month. (strike 3) One more overly expensive low quality item from Claire's. Again, it could've been a bad bottle, but I honestly don't think it was.

Brand: China Glaze (Crackle)
Price: $8
Color: Lightning Bolt
Pros: High Quality

Cons: Doesn't crackle right...
Okay, I don't know if this is a stupid thing to include because it "Doesn't crackle right". From the pictures I've seen of crackle nail polish, it looks so cool! I tried adding a thick and thin layer of the polish and for whatever reason it didn't crackle right! Like it barely did and it was just little tiny lines. Like 3 tiny lines. Is that normal? Luckily I got this polish on sale for like $5. I'll probably end up giving it to a friend (Along with a million other nail polishes I don't like/want)

Brand: Nicole by OPI (Kardashain Kollection)
Price: $8.50-9
Color: Wear something Spar-Kylie (KARDASHIAN KOLLECTION)
Pros: -

Cons: Chips easy, thick, hard to apply, hard to remove, no use
The cons sound rather harsh, I'm sorry. It's only the truth. I was psyched to find this because I'm obsessed with Keeping Up With The Kardashians (Every Sunday night at 8!) I got this as well as another polish. The other one (Kim-Pletely in Love) I adore. It is so pretty and high quality. This one, is a WHOLE other story. Its so thick you can't use it as a glitter over another polish, you need a finger COMPLETELY glitter -Which we all know is a pain to take off- but then, after one day (Sometimes less) THE ENTIRE NAIL POLISH FALLS OFF!! Like all the nail polish on that finger, just peels or falls off. WHAT?! So I've tried it multiple times thinking it was just something I did wrong. Nope, it's just how the polish works. Not impressed Kylie...

So I hope this blog helped someone out there who was debating on whether or not to buy any of these nail polishes. Keep in mind, these are all MY opinions based on MY experiences with these polishes. Your experience or opinion might be different, and that's okay.

xoxo,

First Impression: L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation

July 18th, 2013
FIRST IMPRESSION: L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder
Price: $10.99 for .91 FL. Oz.
 Coverage: Light-Medium
 Rating: 3.5/5
Pros: SPF 18, Lots of color options, blendable
Cons: Expensive for not much product, Hard to choose your color

So, yesterday at Target, I gave in to the temptation to try out the new L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation. Basically, it goes on as a liquid, then turns into a powder once its on your skin. I was deciding between this and Covergirl's new foundation. I decided I'd get this because its summer and it has SPF so I don't need to worry about sunscreen on my face (Which is a hassle) They have 12 color options so I was pretty happy thinking I'd get pretty close to my skin color. I got the color 'Natural Beige' which is number 320. I came home and tried it out. IT IS SO LIQUIDY!! When you shake it, it sounds like its water in there. That made me nervous considering I do my makeup in my room... Which is carpeted. So, I took a risk and poured some into the palm of my hand (To avoid spilling it) it already looked too dark for my skin and very orange-y. I put it on anyways. I was pleasantly surprised! It goes on looking very dark and orange but once you rub it in more and spread it out, it blended it nicely. It made me look a bit more tan than I actually am, but I'm okay with that considering its summer and I'm expecting to get more tan. I didn't look orange at ALL! I still do worry about it being so liquid-y, so be sure to take that into consideration when/if you buy it. Also, its okay if its a color darker than you because (for me at least) it blended out nicely. But obviously, if you are VERY pale, don't get the darkest shade, because obviously it won't blend in with your skin tone. I didn't feel it transform into a powder yesterday when I tried it out, but today it feels much more powder-y. I still am not feeling the full transformation, it just feels oily (I do NOT have oily skin, I have normal skin. Not dry, not oily.) I do not LOOK oily, it just feels like that. It might not feel that way for everyone. But to me it does. So overall, I give this product a 3.5 out of 5. Just because you don't get that much product for being as pricey as it is (For a drugstore makeup that is.) And because it IS so hard to choose your color (Unless you have other L'Oreal foundations.) I hope this first impression helped you out if you were thinking about buying this! Leave first impression requests below!

                                                                   xoxo,

I will be doing a check in later, after I use it a little bit more.
